What to consider when choosing a spray booth
The right spray booth for your manufacturing enterprise will depend on your specific needs. These considerations will help you choose the right system:
1. Products to be sprayed

The size, quantity and items you need to spray will determine much about the spray booth, especially its size. You should consider how the items will be placed in the booth, whether they need to be hung or placed on racks.
2. Ventilation requirements

Ventilation is a key consideration for spray booths because it keeps the air as clean and clear as possible. Common ventilation types are cross draft (air is drawn from one side and out the other) or down draft (air is pushed down and out through the floor).
3. The space

Where the spray booth has to be placed in your factory or manufacturing plant will dictate the size of booth. This also affects ventilation and workflow. For example, the spray booth should be placed close to the drying area for ease of transfer of products.
4. Your budget
Your capital expenditure budget will determine the choice of spray booth – but your consumables budget needs to be taken into consideration as well. Some spray booths have higher running costs than others.
Health and safety standards

The safety requirements for your industry must be considered. There might be laws about the type of safety protocols and ventilation the spray booth must have for operators and for environmental impact.
3 main types of spray booth filtration
Spray booth filtration handles overspray and waste paint to help make clean-up and safe disposal easier and more eco-friendly. These are the three main types of spray booth filtration offered by SCT.
Dry baffle filtration spray booth
This system uses metal baffles to catch and filter any overspray. The baffles are coated with a peel-off coating to make removal and cleaning easier. This system offers lower operational costs with minimal consumables.
Water-wash spray booth

This system uses a water curtain to catch any overspray. A coagulant in the water collects the paint and makes it easy to separate from the water. This system can be cleaned during operation, minimising downtime.
Cardboard/fibreglass media filtration spray booth

This system uses cardboard or fibreglass filters to collect overspray. The manufacturing costs are low but the operational costs can be high because of high consumables and operational shutdown to remove and replace filters.
